Measuring bottles

To check the tightness of the caps in manufacturing, most of the time, we measure the unscrewing torque on the bottles once they have been screwed by the machine. The results obtained during unscrewing tests do not give a direct value to adjust the caps screwing machine.

To facilitate the setup of screwing equipment, Com-Ten Industries has designed systems based on force and torque gauges to measure the insertion force of the cap and torque to tighten a cap. These systems are called measuring bottles. These are actually mechanical assemblies reproducing the shape of the bottle and incorporating a force or torque transducer.

To install the measuring device, the torque or force sensor is disconnected from the display. The whole mechanism is then inserted under the capping machine. The sensor is then reattached to the display. Then the equipment screw or insert the cap or cork.
